AC Team

If you applied for FTII JET 2026, mark your calendar. The Film and Television Institute of India will hold the Stage 1 re-examination on July 12, 2026. This applies to candidates who took the original test back in April but need to sit for it again due to the re-examination call.
Let's break down everything you need to know before exam day, so you walk in prepared and walk out relaxed.
What is the FTII JET Stage 1 Re-Exam About?
FTII first conducted the Stage 1 written test on April 26, 2026, in two shifts. For reasons not detailed in the official notice, a re-examination has been scheduled for July 12. If you received an admit card for this date, it means you are among the candidates who need to reappear.
The exam will run in offline mode across multiple centres in India. So no last-minute laptop checks or internet worries here. Just you, a pen, and your admit card.
FTII JET Stage 1 Exam Date and Courses
The July 12 exam covers two groups of courses. Here's a quick look:
Group A
- MFA in Cinema with specialization in Direction & Screenplay-writing
- MFA in Cinema with specialization in Cinematography
- MFA in Cinema with specialization in Editing
- MFA in Cinema with specialization in Sound Recording & Sound Design
- MFA in Cinema with specialization in Art Direction & Production Design

All these courses share the same exam date, so there's no confusion about timing once you know your group.
Don't Forget Your Admit Card
This one deserves its own heading because FTII is strict about it. No hall ticket means no entry. Simple as that. Keep a printed copy ready, and maybe a backup in your email just in case your printer decides to act up the night before (printers have a habit of doing that at the worst possible time).
Items You Cannot Carry to the Exam Hall
FTII has laid out a clear list of items that are not allowed inside the exam centre. Leave these at home or in your bag outside, because the centre will not store them for you:
- Mobile phones
- Bluetooth devices
- Earbuds or any other electronic gadgets
- Digital or smartwatches
- Bags or handbags
- Papers, notes, or books
- Calculators
- Correction markers or white fluid
Here's the part that matters most: if you bring any of these items and they go missing, FTII and the exam centre take no responsibility. There's no cloakroom, no locker, no friendly guard holding your phone for safekeeping. So the smartest move is to simply not bring them at all.
A Few Practical Tips for Exam Day
Since gadgets and bags are off the table, plan your outfit and essentials wisely. Carry your admit card in a simple folder or envelope. Wear something with pockets if you need to carry an ID or a pen without a bag.
Reach your centre early. Traffic on exam day has a strange way of testing your patience even before the actual test begins. Giving yourself extra time means one less thing to stress about.
Also, double-check your exam centre address a day before. Centres can sometimes be tucked away in areas that are tricky to locate on maps, so a quick recce or asking a local can save you from unnecessary panic.
Stay Updated
Since this is a re-examination, official updates matter more than usual. Keep checking your email and the FTII website for any last-minute instructions, changes in reporting time, or centre details. Exam authorities sometimes send updates closer to the date, and you don't want to miss those.
Good luck for July 12. Walk in with your admit card, a clear head, and nothing else that's on the prohibited list.
