DU Colleges Accepting CUET 2026: Courses, Ranks and Dates

If you are dreaming of a seat at Delhi University, CUET 2026 is your ticket in. DU does not conduct its own entrance test anymore. Instead, it relies on your CUET score and the preferences you set on the DU CSAS UG Portal. Simple, right? Well, mostly. Let's break down what you actually need to know.

Why DU Still Tops Every Student's List

Delhi University houses some of the oldest and most respected colleges in India. Commerce students dream of SRCC. Science lovers eye Hindu College or Hansraj. Arts enthusiasts want a seat at Miranda House or LSR. According to NIRF Rankings 2025, Hindu College sits at rank 1, followed by Miranda House at rank 2 and Hansraj College at rank 3. Kirori Mal College and St. Stephen's College round out the top five.

These rankings help you shortlist colleges, but remember, a lower rank does not mean a lower quality education. Many colleges outside the top ten offer strong faculty and great campus life. Choose based on your course and comfort, not just the number next to the college name.

Courses You Can Get Through CUET

DU colleges offer more than 69 undergraduate courses through CUET. You will find the usual suspects like B.A. (Hons) English, B.Com (Hons), and B.Sc (Hons) Chemistry. But there are some hidden gems too. Cluster Innovation Centre offers a B.Tech in Information Technology and Mathematical Innovations. College of Vocational Studies runs specialised programmes like Tourism Management and Human Resource Management. If you want something less common, check out B.A. (Hons) in French, German, Spanish, or even Russian through the Department of German and Romance Studies.

Seat intake this year stands at close to 79,000 seats across all courses. B.A. leads with over 40,000 seats, followed by B.Sc and B.Com. So the competition is real, but so are the opportunities.

Important Dates You Cannot Miss

DU runs its admission process in phases through the CSAS UG Portal. Registration Phase 1 begins in the last week of June 2026. Phase 2, where you fill in your course and college preferences, opens in the first week of July. Once you lock your preferences, there is no turning back, so choose wisely.

The first seat allocation list comes out in the third week of July. If you get a seat you like, accept it and pay the fee before the deadline. If not, wait for the second allocation list, which usually arrives about a week later. Missing a deadline here can cost you the seat, so mark your calendar or set a dozen reminders on your phone.

How the Admission Process Actually Works

Here is the process in plain steps:

  1. Register for CUET UG at cuet.nta.nic.in and appear for the exam.
  2. Fill the DU CSAS application form once registrations open.
  3. Select your preferred programmes and colleges in order.
  4. Check the simulated rank list to see where you stand.
  5. Wait for the CUET DU merit list and seat allocation.
  6. Accept the seat, or choose to upgrade if a better option comes along.

DU does not release a fixed cutoff like older admission systems. Instead, seat allocation depends on your rank and the preferences you filled. So filling your preference list carefully matters more than obsessing over last year's cutoff numbers.

Eligibility Criteria in Simple Terms

You need to have passed Class 12 from a recognised board. You must appear for CUET in the subjects you studied in Class 12 or in closely related domain subjects if your exact subject is not listed by NTA. Admission to a specific course depends on the subject combination you choose during CUET registration, so pick subjects that match your desired course.

A Few Honest Tips

Do not just chase rankings. Look at the course structure, faculty reviews, and location. Some colleges outside South Delhi offer excellent programmes with far less competition. Also, keep your document list ready well before the registration window opens. Nothing is more stressful than hunting for your migration certificate the night before a deadline.

CUET has made DU admissions more transparent, but it still rewards those who plan ahead. Track the DU CSAS portal regularly, note every deadline, and fill your preferences with a clear head rather than panic. That combination usually works better than any last minute strategy.
