CUET 2026: Complete Guide to Results, Counselling and Admissions

The CUET UG 2026 results are out. Students across India who appeared for the Common University Entrance Test can now access their scorecards online. More than 200 universities will accept these scores for undergraduate admissions.

The exam was held between May 11 and June 7, 2026. Students appeared for subjects across languages, domain subjects and general tests. The National Testing Agency released the final answer key on June 21, followed by results on June 23.

Understanding Your CUET Scorecard

Your CUET scorecard shows subject specific scores and percentiles. Each subject is marked out of 250. You need to enter your login details at cuet.nta.nic.in to download the scorecard.

The scorecard includes your personal details, roll number, subject names and scores. Most importantly, it shows percentile scores. Universities use these percentiles to create their cut off lists.

Top central universities like Delhi University and Banaras Hindu University have started their registration processes. The role of NTA ends with result declaration. Students must now check individual university websites for admission schedules.

How the CUET Exam Works

CUET is a computer based test. Students can select up to five subjects from 23 domain subjects, 13 languages and general test. Each paper has 50 questions. All questions are objective type.

The exam is available in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil and others. Students appeared for the exam across 306 cities in India and 15 cities abroad.

Each subject paper gets 60 minutes. Students needed to choose subjects based on their Class 12 stream and desired university course requirements.

Top Performing Subjects in Previous Year

Last year, Business Studies saw the highest score at 250 out of 250. Psychology and Geography also reached the maximum marks. In sciences, Biology topped at 249.70, followed by Chemistry at 247.64.

These high scores show the level of competition. Students need strong preparation to secure seats in top universities. Most competitive courses require scores above 200 in each subject.

What Happens After Results

Universities will release their cut offs separately. Delhi University uses the CSAS portal for admissions. Students need to register there and fill their college and course preferences.

Banaras Hindu University will conduct its own counselling rounds. Allahabad University, Jamia Millia Islamia and other participating universities have their own admission portals and processes.

Students should keep their Class 10 certificate, Class 12 marksheet, category certificate and other documents ready. Most universities need document verification before final admission.

Eligibility for CUET Admissions

Students who passed Class 12 or equivalent exams are eligible. There is no age limit. Subject specific eligibility depends on the course and university you apply to.

Students who appeared for Class 12 in 2026 were also eligible to take the exam. Each university sets its own additional criteria for specific courses.

Key Dates You Should Know

CUET registration opened on January 3, 2026. The exam ran from May 11 to June 7 with some rescheduled dates. Answer keys came out on June 9. Final answer key released on June 21. Results were declared on June 23.

Universities are now opening their counselling registrations. Delhi University activated CSAS in late June. Other universities will follow similar timelines through July and August.

Which Universities Accept CUET

Over 205 universities accept CUET scores. These include central universities like JNU, Jamia and AMU. Many state universities have also joined. Private and deemed universities like IPU and AUD participate too.

Each university has different cut offs and admission processes. Some conduct multiple counselling rounds. Check the official website of your target university for exact details.

Calculating Your Chances

Your percentile score matters more than raw marks. The percentile shows how many students scored equal to or less than you. Universities use this for merit lists.

A score above 90 percentile opens doors to many good colleges. Scoring above 95 percentile gives you chances at top colleges in Delhi University and BHU.

Documents Required for Counselling

Keep your Class 10 and Class 12 certificates ready. You will need your CUET scorecard. Category certificates for SC, ST, OBC or EWS are required if applicable.

Transfer certificate and conduct certificate from your school are needed. Keep photocopies of all original documents. Some universities ask for additional documents based on the course.

What Makes a Good CUET Score

A good score depends on the course and college you want. For top DU colleges, you need scores above 200 in each subject. For other central universities, scores around 180 work well.

Competition varies by subject and course. Commerce and Arts courses in top colleges see higher cut offs. Science courses have different competition levels based on the specific subject combination.

Tips for the Counselling Process

Register as soon as the counselling window opens. Fill your preferences carefully. List colleges in order of your genuine preference.

Keep checking the counselling portal regularly. Universities release multiple rounds of seat allocation. If you miss one round, you can try in the next.

Pay the admission fee within the deadline if you get allotted a seat. Complete document verification on time. Missing deadlines means losing your seat.

Common Questions Students Ask

Many students wonder if they need to clear CLAT for law courses. Most universities offering law through CUET do not require CLAT. Check specific university requirements.

Some ask about age limits. CUET has no upper age limit. Anyone who meets the educational qualification can appear.

Students often ask about improvement exams. Most universities allow admission even if you plan to improve Class 12 marks. Check individual university policies.

Subject Selection Strategy

Choose subjects based on your Class 12 stream. Match them with course requirements of universities you target. Do not select subjects you did not study in Class 12.

Most students select four domain subjects plus one language. Some add the general test. Check if your target universities require the general test.

Popular combinations for science include Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology. Commerce students often pick Accounts, Business Studies, Economics and Maths.

Understanding Cut Offs

Cut offs are the minimum scores needed for admission. They vary by college, course and category. General category typically has higher cut offs than reserved categories.

DU releases cut offs after each allocation round. BHU announces cut offs round wise. Other universities follow similar patterns. Previous year cut offs give you a reference point.

Cut offs depend on seat availability, number of applicants and their score range. Popular courses in top colleges see very high cut offs.
