CTET September 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will close the application window for the 22nd Central Teacher Eligibility Test today, September 1, 2026. Candidates who missed the first registration period can use this final chance to apply through the official CTET website.

The original notification for CTET September 2026 was issued on May 8. The first application window remained open from May 11 to June 10. CBSE later opened the portal again for candidates who could not register during that period.

Why Was the Application Window Reopened?

CBSE reopened the portal after the Supreme Court highlighted the need to provide eligible teachers with a reasonable opportunity to gain the prescribed TET qualification. The board said the decision was taken in the interest of candidates and to support compliance with the statutory requirement.

This additional window is meant for eligible candidates who did not submit an application earlier. It is not a general extension without a closing date. Candidates must complete the process within the time stated in the official notice.

How to Apply for CTET September 2026

Candidates can follow these steps to submit the form:

Open the link for the CTET September 2026 application.
Register with the required details and create login credentials.
Fill in personal, academic and contact information.
Select the paper or papers you wish to take.
Upload the required documents in the stated format.

Which CTET Papers Can Candidates Choose?

CTET has two papers. Paper I is for candidates who wish to teach Classes 1 to 5. Paper II is for those who wish to teach Classes 6 to 8. Candidates who want to teach both levels may need to appear for both papers, subject to the eligibility rules in the official notification.

CBSE has conducted 21 editions of CTET so far. The result of the 21st edition was declared on March 30. The September 2026 examination will be the 22nd edition of the teacher eligibility test.
