The Azim Premji Foundation has opened applications for the Azim Premji Scholarship 2026-27. The scholarship helps girl students from disadvantaged backgrounds continue their education after Class 12.
For the 2026 cohort, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi (NCT) have joined the list of eligible regions. Students from 21 states and Union Territories can now apply. Round 1 registrations will remain open from 10 August to 31 August 2026.
The scholarship is meant for students starting their first undergraduate degree or diploma course. It is not a prize for topping the class. This is good news for students who work hard but may not have a long list of medals to show.
Who can apply for the Azim Premji Scholarship?
Applicants must meet all the main conditions below:
- The applicant must be a girl student.
- She must have passed both Class 10 and Class 12 as a regular student.
- She must have studied at a government school or college in one of the eligible states or Union Territories.
- She must have secured admission to the first year of a recognised undergraduate degree or diploma course for the 2026-27 academic session.
- The course must last between two and five years.
- The college or university can be a government institution or a credible private institution in India.
There is no age limit for applying. The scholarship is also not based on marks or rank. However, students admitted to Azim Premji University cannot apply. Students who hold a Wipro scholarship, including the Santoor scholarship, are also not eligible.
States and Union Territories included in 2026
The revised list includes Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi (NCT), Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Students should check their school records before starting the form. A small spelling difference in a name or an incorrect state detail can create trouble during document checks.
Scholarship amount and payment details
Selected students will receive Rs 30,000 each year. The payment will continue for the full length of the first undergraduate degree or diploma course, subject to the scholarship rules.
For a five-year course, the total support can reach Rs 1.5 lakh. The amount will be sent to the student’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. Applicants should make sure that their bank account is active and that the name on the account matches their official documents.
There is no application fee. The Foundation has warned students about fake messages that ask for money to process the application. If a message asks for payment, treat it as a red flag. Scholarships should not come with a surprise entry ticket.

Documents needed to apply
Keep clear copies of the following documents ready:
- Passport-size photograph
- Aadhaar card
- Bank passbook or bank statement
- Class 10 marksheet
- Class 12 marksheet
- Proof of admission, such as a bona fide certificate or fee receipt
Files must be uploaded in PDF, PNG or JPG format. Each file should be between 30 KB and 500 KB. Scan documents in good light and check that every word is easy to read. A blurry marksheet can turn a simple form into a small detective case.

- Select New Registrations for 2026 Cohort.
- Enter the mobile number and verify it through OTP.
- Fill in personal, academic and college admission details.
- Upload the required documents in the correct file format and size.
- Review the form before submitting it.
- Save the application details or acknowledgement for future reference.
Use accurate information in every section. The name, date of birth, Aadhaar details, marksheet details and bank information should match the official records. Students should also use their own active mobile number where possible, since the Foundation may send important updates through the registered contact details.
