If you have been refreshing the UPESSC website every few hours, you are not alone. Lakhs of candidates who sat for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 are doing the exact same thing right now. The good news is that the wait might finally be coming to an end soon.
Where things stand right now
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has finished the final evaluation process for UPTET 2026. That means scorecards and the merit list PDF are expected to drop on the official website, upessc.up.gov.in, very soon. The Commission has not confirmed an exact date yet, so candidates should keep checking the site regularly instead of waiting for one big announcement.
What UPTET actually tests
UPTET is not a job exam by itself. It is an eligibility test that decides who gets to apply for teaching positions in primary and upper primary government schools across Uttar Pradesh. Think of it as the entry ticket, not the final prize.
The exam runs in two parts. Paper 1 is for candidates who want to teach classes 1 to 5. Paper 2 is for those aiming at classes 6 to 8. If you want to keep both doors open, you would have appeared for both papers.
Once you clear the test, you get a UPTET certificate. And here is a nice bit of relief: this certificate is valid for a lifetime now, so you do not need to keep retaking the exam every few years just to stay eligible.
The marks you actually need
Qualifying marks depend on your category, and the numbers matter a lot here.
- General category candidates need 60 per cent marks, which works out to at least 90 marks out of 150.
- OBC, SC and ST candidates need 55 per cent marks, which comes to 82.5 marks, generally rounded to 82 out of 150 as per the Commission's calculation rules.
Even half a mark can decide whether you clear the cut off, so it is worth checking your scorecard carefully once it is out.
How to check your UPTET 2026 result
Once the result link goes live, here is what you need to do:
- Visit the official UPESSC website, upessc.up.gov.in.
- Look for the UPTET Result 2026 link on the homepage.
- Enter your registration number or roll number.
- Add your password or date of birth, whichever the site asks for.
- Submit the details and your scorecard will appear on the screen.
Download the scorecard and save it somewhere safe. A screenshot on your phone that gets deleted by mistake is not a fun way to relive this moment later.
Downloading the merit list PDF
The merit list is a separate document from your scorecard, and it matters just as much. After it is released, you can find it on the same homepage under a merit list link. Click on it, download the PDF, and search for your name or roll number using the find function on your device.
Keep a printed copy handy too. Recruitment processes down the line often ask for proof of your UPTET qualification, and having a physical copy saves you from last minute scrambling.
What to do while you wait
There is not much to do except stay patient and keep an eye on the official website for updates. Avoid relying on random forwarded messages or unofficial sources for the result date. If something looks too specific or too urgent, it is probably not from UPESSC. The safest bet is always the official portal, no matter how many times you have to hit refresh.
