UPTET 2026 qualifying statistics

According to the result data released by UPESSC, 19,94,661 candidates appeared for the UPTET 2026 examination. The exam took place over three days and five shifts in Uttar Pradesh.

For the primary-level examination, which covers Classes 1 to 5, 7,13,648 candidates appeared. Of these, 5,71,435 candidates qualified. The pass percentage for this level was 80.07 per cent.

For the upper primary-level examination, which covers Classes 6 to 8, 10,57,021 candidates appeared. A total of 7,59,513 candidates qualified, giving a pass percentage of 71.85 per cent.

Performance of working teachers

The result report also lists the performance of working teachers who appeared for the eligibility test.

At the primary level, 1,22,405 working teachers appeared and 93,387 qualified. The pass percentage was 76.29 per cent.
At the upper primary level, 1,46,394 working teachers appeared and 1,13,384 qualified. The pass percentage was 77.45 per cent.

These figures show the number of candidates who qualified in each category. Candidates should check their own scorecard for personal marks and qualifying status.

Why the UPTET result used normalisation

The UPTET 2026 exam was held in several shifts. Since the difficulty level may differ between shifts, UPESSC used the normalisation process mentioned in Point 9 of the official TET notification.

Normalisation helps the commission compare scores from different shifts on a common scale. This process is not based on a simple change to every candidate's marks. It follows the method given in the exam notification.

Final answer key and result preparation

Before announcing the result, UPESSC released the provisional answer key on July 8, 2026. Candidates could compare the key with their recorded answers and OMR sheets.

The commission also opened an objection window from July 8 to July 14. During this period, candidates could challenge answers in the provisional key. UPESSC reviewed the objections and prepared the final answer key after completing the review process.
