The Uttar Pradesh Social Welfare Department has opened applications for the UP Post Matric Scholarship 2026-27. The scheme supports students from Class 11 to PhD level who meet the category and income rules.
Fresh and renewal applications have different dates. Students should check the schedule before starting the form. Missing a date can turn a simple online task into a full office visit, and nobody wants that surprise.
UP Post Matric Scholarship 2026 application dates
The dates depend on your class, course and application type. Fresh applicants are applying for the first time. Renewal applicants are students who received the scholarship earlier and continue in the same course.

After the student submits the form, the school or college must verify and forward it. Biometric checks, scrutiny, correction windows and district approval also form part of the process. Students should keep checking the portal after submission.
Who can apply?
The scholarship covers students studying after Class 10. This includes Class 11 and 12, undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, diploma programmes, ITI courses and PhD programmes.
Students from these groups may apply:
- Scheduled Caste, or SC
- Scheduled Tribe, or ST
- Other Backward Classes, or OBC
- General category
- Minority communities
Eligibility also depends on family income, course details, institution records and other rules under the selected scholarship category.
Income limit for UP scholarship

Students should use a valid income certificate issued by the authorised department. Check that the name, income amount and certificate details match the application.
How much scholarship can students receive?
The amount is based on the student category, course group, fee rules and whether the student is a day scholar or hosteller. Course groups are set under the scholarship scheme. They do not match class numbers in a simple way.

The final benefit may also include fee reimbursement as per government rates. Payment is sent through Direct Benefit Transfer, or DBT, using the Public Financial Management System.
How to complete OTR registration and apply
- Open the official UP Scholarship portal at scholarship.up.gov.in.
- Complete the One-Time Registration, or OTR, process.
- Choose the correct post-matric scholarship option.
- Enter your personal, academic, category and income details.
- Provide bank account information and complete Aadhaar or e-KYC steps when asked.
- Review every detail before submitting the form.
- Download the final application and print it.
- Submit the printout and required documents to your school or college by the stated date.
- Track verification, errors and payment status on the portal.
Use an Aadhaar-linked bank account that can receive DBT payments. A small spelling error in the bank details can create a large problem later.
