The wait is finally over for lakhs of candidates who sat for the UP Police Constable exam. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) released the written exam result on Friday, and the numbers tell quite a story.
Out of 32,679 constable posts up for grabs, 76,184 candidates have cleared the written test. That means a lot of people are now one step closer to wearing the uniform, but the journey isn't finished yet.
Category-Wise Cut-Off Marks
The board has released the cut-off for each category, and the gaps are worth noting:
- General category: 258.03
- OBC: 251.63
- EWS: 247.63 (4 marks lower than OBC)
- SC: 239.34
- ST: 210.10
The General cut-off sits 7 marks above OBC, which shows just how tight the competition got this year. If you cleared it, give yourself a pat on the back. This exam was no walk in the park.
What Happens Next
Passing the written exam is only half the battle. Candidates now move to Document Verification (DV) and the Physical Standard Test (PST).

Once both these stages wrap up, the board will release the final result. So the celebration can wait a bit longer.
The Physical Test: Time to Lace Up
Here's where things get real. Male candidates need to run 4.8 kilometres in 25 minutes. Female candidates must cover 2.4 kilometres in 14 minutes.

The Numbers Behind This Massive Exam
This recruitment drive attracted a staggering response. A total of 28,86,797 candidates applied for the 32,679 posts. Of these, 19,62,560 were men and 9,24,237 were women.
The written exam took place over three days, June 8, 9, and 10, across 1,183 exam centres spread through all 75 districts of the state. The exam ran in six shifts to accommodate the sheer volume of applicants.
Out of everyone who applied, 21,92,236 candidates actually showed up for the exam. That leaves close to 6.94 lakh candidates who registered but didn't appear. Life happens, we suppose.
The exam itself carried 300 marks, split across 150 questions worth 2 marks each. One change this year: no negative marking. That must have come as a relief to many who like to take educated guesses.
Cracking Down on Fraud
Large exams often attract their share of troublemakers, and this one was no exception. The board took strict action against fake candidates and people spreading misleading videos about the exam.
Twelve cases were registered, and nine people were arrested. The board used e-KYC, biometric verification, and social media monitoring to catch these fraud attempts. It's good to see technology being put to proper use here.
