The UGC NET 2026 June session answer key is expected soon. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has not shared the exact release date or time yet. Candidates can check the provisional answer key on the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

The answer key will help candidates check their responses, estimate their scores and decide if they need to raise an objection. Keep your login details ready. Exam result season has enough suspense without searching for a forgotten password.

UGC NET 2026 answer key release date

NTA held the UGC NET June 2026 examination from June 22 to June 30, 2026. It also held a re-examination on July 5, 2026, for the CT Group of Institutes. The provisional answer key is pending as of August 8, 2026.

In earlier sessions, NTA released the answer key within a few days of the examination. The recent release pattern is shown below:

The provisional answer key and response sheet will help you match each answer with the official answer. The document is expected to include:

  • Name of the examination
  • Date of the examination
  • Subject ID
  • Exam shift
  • Question ID
  • Correct option ID
  • Candidate response

UGC NET answer key objection process

NTA will first publish a provisional answer key. If you believe an answer is wrong, you can challenge it during the objection window. Subject experts will review the challenges before NTA prepares the final answer key.

  1. Open the official UGC NET website.
  2. Select the answer key challenge link.
  3. Log in with your application number, date of birth or password, and security pin.
  4. Open the subject-wise question paper, response sheet and provisional key.
  5. Select the question ID you want to challenge.
  6. Choose the option you believe is correct.
  7. Upload clear supporting proof, if required.
  8. Pay the objection fee and submit the form.

UGC NET 2026 objection fee

The challenge fee is Rs. 200 per question. The fee is non-refundable in most cases. If NTA accepts an objection after expert review, the answer key may be changed. The final decision will be based on the expert panel’s review.

UGC NET 2026 qualifying marks

Qualifying marks are based on the combined marks scored in both papers. Meeting the minimum marks does not ensure selection for JRF or assistant professor posts. The final cut-off can change by subject and category.

CategoryMinimum marks in both papers
General or unreserved40%
OBC non-creamy layer, SC, ST, PwD and transgender candidates35%

The cut-off depends on the number of candidates, paper difficulty, subject-wise performance and past cut-off trends. Candidates should compare their estimated score with the cut-off for their subject and category.

What happens after the final answer key?

NTA will use the final answer key to prepare the UGC NET 2026 result. The result will show the candidate’s marks and qualification status. UGC NET scores may support applications for JRF, assistant professor roles and PhD admissions, based on the rules of the institution and the relevant category.

Universities that may accept UGC NET scores include the University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Banaras Hindu University, the University of Hyderabad, Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia and IGNOU. Candidates should check each university’s admission notice for its own eligibility rules and deadlines.

Details to keep ready

  • Application number
  • Password or date of birth
  • Security pin
  • Registered mobile number and email ID
  • Payment method for an objection
  • Proof for each disputed question

Check the official website at regular intervals and read the full NTA notice before submitting an objection. Do not depend on social media posts for the release date, fee rules or result schedule.
