Tamil Nadu Announces 10th, 11th Arrear and 12th Exam Schedules
Tamil Nadu will release the 2027 Class 10, Class 11 arrear and Class 12 public exam timetable, with subject dates and practical details to follow online.

Tamil Nadu students waiting for the 2027 board exam timetable will get an official update today. School Education Minister Rajmohan is scheduled to release the examination timetable for Classes 10, 11 arrear and 12 at 12.30 pm on Wednesday, 14 October 2026.
The announcement will cover the State Board public examinations planned for March and April 2027. More than 15 lakh students across Tamil Nadu are expected to take these exams. The release will help students, parents and teachers plan the remaining months of the academic year.
Which examinations are included?
The timetable will include the following examinations:
- Class 10 SSLC public examination
- Class 11 arrear examination
- Class 12 Plus Two public examination
The Class 11 schedule is meant for students who have arrears to clear. Students in Classes 10 and 12 will use the timetable to plan their revision, model tests and practical work.
When will the timetable be released?
Minister Rajmohan will release the timetable at 12.30 pm today. After the announcement, the Directorate of Government Examinations is expected to upload the full details on its official website.
The online document will provide the subject-wise examination dates. It will also carry details about practical examinations, where applicable. Students should check the official release instead of depending only on messages shared on social media. A forwarded timetable may travel faster than the truth, but it does not make the timetable official.
Why the announcement matters to students
Public exam preparation becomes easier when students know the dates in advance. They can divide the syllabus into smaller sections and set weekly targets. Teachers can prepare revision plans, while parents can support study routines at home.
Students should look for gaps between subjects when the schedule is released. More time between two papers can be used for difficult lessons, practice tests and revision. If two subjects come close together, students may need to start preparing for both instead of waiting for the first paper to finish.
The timetable can also help students plan practical preparation. Schools may share separate instructions for laboratory subjects, record submission and practical exam dates. These details matter, since practical marks form part of the final assessment for some subjects.
How the dates have changed in recent years
Tamil Nadu usually releases the Class 10 and Class 12 public exam timetables during the middle of the academic year. In 2024, the schedule was announced on 14 October. In 2025, the release took place later, on 4 November.
Exam dates have also changed in some years because of major events. During the previous academic year, the examinations were planned earlier due to the Assembly election. This shows why students should wait for the official timetable each year rather than rely on old exam calendars.
What students should do after the release
- Download the official timetable from the Directorate of Government Examinations website.
- Check the subjects, dates and examination sessions with the school copy.
- Mark all exam dates on a calendar or study planner.
- List the chapters that need more practice.
- Plan revision tests based on the time available before each paper.
- Note the practical exam dates and school instructions separately.
Students should also check their hall ticket details when the department releases them later. Any mistake in the name, registration number or subject list should be reported to the school without delay.
Teachers and school heads are expected to guide students after the timetable becomes available. The official document will provide the subject-wise dates and practical examination information needed for the next stage of preparation.
