SSC Stenographer Final Result 2026: Check Grade C and D Selection Details

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the final result for the Stenographer Grade C and Grade D Examination 2025. The result covers 1,715 candidates selected for posts in central ministries and government departments.
Out of the total selections, 232 candidates have been selected for Grade C posts and 1,483 candidates for Grade D posts. The final allocation depends on merit, post and department preferences, and the option chosen during the sliding process.

Grade C and Grade D category-wise selection
All 232 vacancies for Grade C were filled. The selected candidates include 119 from the unreserved category, 50 from the Other Backward Classes (OBC), 27 from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 22 from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category and 14 from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
For Grade D, all 1,483 available posts were also filled. The selection includes 711 unreserved candidates, 350 OBC candidates, 146 EWS candidates, 190 SC candidates and 86 ST candidates. Horizontal reservation for candidates with disabilities and other eligible categories was also applied.
How the final allocation was made
Before releasing the final result, SSC issued the First Round of Tentative Allocation on 31 July 2026. Candidates then took part in sliding and identity verification at their regional offices on 11 and 12 August.
Attendance during this process was required. Candidates who did not attend were marked absent and were not included in the final selection. During sliding, 1,055 candidates selected the FIX option, while 549 candidates selected FLOAT.
The FIX option keeps the allotted post and department. The FLOAT option allows consideration for another post or department when changes are possible during the allocation process. Due to vacant seats created by absent candidates, 111 candidates received a fresh allocation. After this process, SSC published the final selection of 1,715 candidates.
Departments allotted to selected candidates
Grade C candidates have been allotted posts in departments such as the Central Administrative Tribunal, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs and the Intelligence Bureau. Some candidates have also been allotted posts in the Election Commission of India.
Grade D candidates may be posted in the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, Central Bureau of Investigation, Department of Personnel and Training, Employees' Provident Fund Organisation and the Indian Railways. The exact department and post should be checked in the official allocation details.
What selected candidates need to do next
The selection is not yet a final appointment. SSC has made it clear that the result is provisional. The department assigned to each candidate will carry out document verification and complete the appointment process.
Candidates should keep their original documents and valid copies ready. These may include educational certificates, identity proof, category certificates, disability certificates where applicable, age proof and other documents mentioned by the user department.
Every claim made in the application must match the supporting documents. If a candidate cannot prove an education, caste or other category claim, the department may cancel the candidature. A result PDF can bring relief, but the document folder still has work to do.
What if there is no communication from the department?
SSC has stated that candidates should contact the allotted department if they do not receive any communication within six months from the date of the final result. The appointment process will be handled by the concerned user department, not by SSC alone.
Candidates should check their email, mobile messages and the official website of the allotted department. They should also keep a copy of the result, allocation details and all submitted documents for future reference.
No reserve or waiting list for this recruitment
SSC will not issue a reserve or waiting list for the Stenographer Grade C and D recruitment. If a selected candidate does not join or a post remains vacant after the final result, the concerned department will carry that vacancy forward to the next recruitment year.
