Railway Recruitment 2025: 27,622 Posts and NTPC UG Application Guide

Railway jobs remain a top choice for many young people in India. They offer steady work, clear promotion rules and a chance to serve across the country. A new update from the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has added to this interest.

According to the latest notice, the railways plan to fill 27,622 posts through seven recruitment drives in 10 months. The process includes 1,688 posts under the NTPC Undergraduate category. The railways also plan to add about 1,200 Station Master posts.

NTPC UG recruitment opens for 1,688 posts

The RRB has released the notice for 1,688 NTPC Undergraduate posts. Online applications are set to begin from the date given in the official notice. Candidates should check their regional RRB website before filling out the form.

NTPC UG posts are meant for candidates who have passed Class 12. Depending on the notice, the posts may include roles such as Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Clerk cum Typist and Trains Clerk. The exact post list, number of vacancies and eligibility rules can vary by recruitment cycle.

Applicants should not rely on social media posts or coaching videos alone. The official RRB notice remains the main source for dates, fees, age limits, exam rules and document details.

What the 27,622 railway vacancies mean

The 27,622 posts are part of several railway recruitment drives planned during the year. These drives may cover different education levels and job groups. Some posts may be open to Class 10 pass candidates, while others may need Class 12, a diploma or a degree.

The planned recruitment also includes posts for Station Masters. This is one of the better-known railway jobs because it involves train operations, station work and safety duties. Candidates who want this role should watch for a separate notice and check the required education and exam conditions.

Vacancy numbers can change after a detailed notice is issued. Railways may also share vacancies by zone, category and post. A candidate from Rajasthan, for example, should check the zone and exam centre details linked to their application.

Basic eligibility for NTPC UG posts

For NTPC Undergraduate jobs, candidates usually need to pass Class 12 from a recognised board. Some clerical posts may also require typing skills. The notice will state the required typing speed, if applicable.

Age limits also apply. The RRB may provide age relaxation for candidates from reserved categories, persons with disabilities and other groups covered by government rules. Candidates must check the cut-off date used to calculate age. A person who meets the age rule on the day of application may still be ineligible if the notice uses a different cut-off date.

Selection process and exam pattern

Most RRB NTPC recruitments include a Computer Based Test. Some posts may have two computer-based stages. Typing-based posts can include a typing skill test. The process may also include document verification and a medical examination.

The written exam usually tests General Awareness, Mathematics and General Intelligence and Reasoning. Questions can cover current affairs, basic science, number systems, percentages, coding, series and simple logic.

A good study plan does not need fancy tools. Start with the latest syllabus. Solve a small set of maths and reasoning questions each day. Read current affairs from a trusted source. Take mock tests once you understand the basics. A mock test can show where marks are leaking, much like a tap that refuses to stop dripping.

How to apply without mistakes

  1. Visit the official RRB website for your region.
  2. Read the full NTPC UG notification before opening the form.
  3. Keep your Class 10 and Class 12 details ready.
  4. Use an active mobile number and email address.
  5. Upload a clear photograph, signature and other required documents.
  6. Check the selected post, category and exam zone before payment.
  7. Save the application number and download the final form.

Do not submit more than one application for the same recruitment unless the notice clearly allows it. Wrong details can create problems during document verification. Candidates should also keep copies of certificates that support age, category, education and disability claims.

Important points for railway job aspirants

The 1,688 NTPC UG posts are only one part of the wider railway recruitment plan. The figure of 27,622 covers multiple drives, so every notice will have its own rules and timetable. The Station Master recruitment may also follow a separate process.

Keep checking the official RRB website for the application link, correction window, exam city slip, admit card and result. Never pay a person who promises selection. RRB recruitment follows a set process, and no agent can change exam marks or guarantee a job.

A simple folder can help you track the process. Store the notification, application form, payment receipt, admit card and practice scores in one place. Set reminders for each date, since missing a deadline can end an application before the first question appears on the screen.
