PNB LBO Recruitment 2026: 545 Posts, Full Details Inside

Good news for graduates hunting for a stable banking job. Punjab National Bank has opened applications for 545 Local Bank Officer posts. If you have been waiting for the right opportunity to enter the banking sector, this might be it.

What Is This Recruitment About

PNB is hiring Local Bank Officers under the Junior Management Grade Scale-I category. The bank started accepting applications on July 20, 2026, and the window stays open until August 09, 2026. So mark your calendar and do not wait until the last day. Websites tend to crash right when everyone rushes in together.

Who Can Apply

The eligibility list is short and clear:

  • You need a graduation degree from a recognised university.
  • You must have at least one year of banking experience.
  • You should know the local language of the state you are applying for. This makes sense since you will work in that region.

One important point to remember: once selected, you will be posted only in the state you choose during application. So pick wisely. There is no shifting states later just because you miss home food.

Age Limit and Relaxations

Candidates must be between 20 and 30 years of age as on July 01, 2026. The government offers age relaxation for certain categories:

  • SC and ST candidates get five years relaxation.
  • OBC (NCL) candidates get three years.
  • PwBD candidates get 10 years.
  • Ex-servicemen get five years.
  • Persons affected by the 1984 riots also get five years.

Where Are the Vacancies

These 545 posts are spread across several states and union territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. So whether you are from the north-east or the south, there is likely a vacancy waiting near you.

Pay Scale

Selected candidates will draw a salary in the range of ₹48,480 to ₹85,920 under the JMGS-I pay scale. Not bad for a starting government banking job, especially with the added perks that usually come with public sector roles.

How Will You Be Selected

The selection process has multiple stages, so buckle up:

  1. Online written examination
  2. Document screening
  3. Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT)
  4. Personal interview
  5. Final merit list
  6. Document verification

The written exam is not something you can wing overnight. It has 150 questions worth 150 marks, and you get 180 minutes to finish. The topics cover Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis and Interpretation, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and General, Economy and Banking Awareness. Keep in mind that every wrong answer costs you 0.25 marks. So guessing randomly is not the smartest strategy here.

Application Fee

The fee structure is simple:

  • SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay ₹59, including GST.
  • General, OBC and EWS candidates pay ₹1,180, including GST.

Steps to Apply

Applying is fairly straightforward if you follow these steps:

  1. Register on the PNB website using a valid email ID and mobile number.
  2. Fill out the online application form carefully.
  3. Upload your documents, photograph and signature as per the specified format.
  4. Pay the application fee online.
  5. Submit the form.
  6. Download a copy of the submitted form and keep it safe. You will thank yourself later when you need it for reference.

This recruitment drive is a solid chance for graduates with banking experience to build a career with one of India's leading public sector banks. Just make sure you check the official notification for exact details on your state and category before applying, since small print often carries big information.
