NMMS Scholarship Applications Open on NSP Portal Until 30 September

Students in Bihar who missed the deadline for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme can still apply. The National Scholarship Portal, or NSP, will accept applications for the 2026-27 project year until 30 September.

The extended deadline gives eligible students more time to complete their forms, upload the required details and submit their applications. Students and parents should not wait until the last day, as errors in the form may take time to fix.

The State Council of Educational Research and Training has informed the District Education Officer and the District Programme Officer, Secondary Education, about the change in dates.

Who needs to apply or renew?

The scholarship process covers students who cleared the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship examination in different years. The class level decides whether a student must apply for a fresh scholarship or renew an existing one.

Students who passed the NMMS examination in 2025 can apply for the Class 10 scholarship.
Students who passed the NMMS examination in 2024 can renew their scholarship for Class 11.
Students who passed the NMMS examination in 2023 can renew their scholarship for Class 12.

Students should select the correct academic year and scholarship details on the NSP portal. A wrong class or exam year can lead to delays during verification.

One-Time Registration is required

Students must complete One-Time Registration, or OTR, before submitting an application for the 2026-27 year. OTR creates a student profile on the portal and helps link the application with the student’s identity details.

Keep the mobile number used during registration active. Students may need it to receive an OTP or other updates. Write down the OTR number and password in a safe place. Losing login details can turn a five-minute task into a small detective story.

Aadhaar rule for students above 18

Aadhaar is compulsory for students who are more than 18 years old. Applicants should check that their Aadhaar details match the information in their school and bank records.

Students should also review their name, date of birth, bank account number and IFSC code before final submission. Even a small mismatch can affect verification or payment. If the portal marks an application as defective, the student must make the correction within the time given by the school or department.

Visit the official National Scholarship Portal.
Complete the One-Time Registration process.
Log in using the registered details.
Select the NMMS scholarship and the correct academic year.
Enter personal, school, bank and examination details.
Upload documents as asked on the portal.
Check every detail before submitting the form.
Save the application number and download a copy of the submitted form.

After submission, the application goes through verification. Students should stay in touch with their school and check the application status on the NSP portal. Schools may also ask for printed copies or supporting documents, so keep the submitted form and records ready.

Check that the student’s school details are correct.
Make sure bank account details belong to the student or follow the scheme rules.
Confirm that documents are clear and readable.
Check the form again before clicking the final submit button.
Ask the school nodal officer for help if the application shows an error.

The application window remains open until 30 September, while defective application checks will continue until 15 October. Students in Buxar and other districts of Bihar should complete the process within the revised schedule and keep proof of submission for future reference.
