NEET UG Counselling 2026: Dates, Fees, Documents and Registration Steps

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will open registration for NEET UG Counselling 2026 on August 5, 2026. Eligible students can apply through mcc.nic.in for MBBS, BDS and selected AYUSH and nursing courses.

MCC counselling covers seats under the All India Quota (AIQ), central universities, deemed universities, AIIMS, JIPMER and other participating institutions. State counselling bodies will manage the remaining state quota seats. So, students may need to register on both portals, depending on the seats they want.

NEET UG Counselling 2026 round 1 dates

Round 1 will include registration, fee payment, choice filling, seat allotment and reporting. The key dates listed by MCC are given below. Check the official website before applying, as dates can change.

Choice filling and lockingAugust 6 to 13, 2026
Seat allotment processingAugust 13 to 16, 2026
Round 1 provisional resultAugust 17, 2026
Reporting to collegeAugust 18 to 22, 2026

The wider round 1 window has also been listed as August 5 to 17. Candidates should follow the dates shown on the MCC portal during registration.

Which seats come under MCC counselling?

  • 15% AIQ seats in government MBBS and BDS colleges of participating states
  • 100% seats in deemed universities
  • 100% seats in central universities such as BHU, AMU and the University of Delhi
  • MBBS seats in AIIMS and JIPMER
  • Seats linked to ESIC and other institutions covered by MCC
  • Selected BSc Nursing seats in central institutes

State counselling authorities handle most of the remaining government seats and private college seats in their states. MCC and state counselling are different processes, so do not treat one registration as a ticket to every medical college in India.

SC, ST, OBC and PwDRs 500Rs 5,000

How to register for NEET UG counselling 2026

  1. Visit mcc.nic.in.
  2. Open the UG medical counselling section.
  3. Click the new registration link.
  4. Enter your NEET application number, roll number, name, mother’s name, date of birth and other details.
  5. Check the details before creating a password.
  6. Log in with the new credentials.
  7. Pay the counselling fee and security deposit online.
  8. Fill in your college and course choices.
  9. Lock the choices before the deadline.
  10. Download the registration slip and choice list.

Choice filling needs care. Add colleges in the order you prefer, not in the order your friend prefers. Review the fee, location, course, seat type and past closing ranks before locking your list. Once locked, choices may not be changed in that round.

Documents to keep ready

  • NEET UG 2026 admit card
  • NEET UG 2026 scorecard
  • Class 10 certificate and marksheet
  • Class 12 certificate and marksheet
  • Valid government identity proof
  • Category certificate, if applicable
  • PwD certificate, if applicable
  • MCC allotment letter
  • Medical fitness certificate
  • Transfer and migration certificates, where required
  • Recent passport-size photographs
  • Choice filling slip and fee payment proof

Keep both scanned copies and original documents ready. Names, dates of birth and other details should match across your records. A small spelling error can create a large headache, which is not the kind of anatomy lesson anyone wants before medical college.

What happens after seat allotment?

MCC will publish the provisional allotment result after processing the choices. If you receive a seat, download the allotment letter and report to the college within the given dates. Carry the original documents and the required fee.

Candidates who want an upgrade must follow the rules for that round. MCC has stated that physical reporting is not mandatory for candidates choosing an upgrade in the revised process. The committee has also added an online resignation facility for candidates who want to leave an allotted seat through the counselling portal.

Reservation under NEET UG counselling

  • GEN-EWS: 10%
  • SC: 15%
  • ST: 7.5%
  • OBC-NCL: 27%
  • PwD: 5% horizontal reservation

The PwD reservation has been increased from 3% to 5%, as stated by MCC. Candidates should use a valid certificate issued under the required rules.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Waiting until the final day to register
  • Filling only a few college choices
  • Forgetting to lock choices
  • Ignoring the seat matrix and previous cut-offs
  • Uploading unclear or incorrect documents
  • Missing the allotment result or reporting deadline
  • Assuming MCC counselling covers all state quota seats
  • Leaving without checking round-wise exit and upgrade rules

MCC has released video tutorials in Hindi and English on registration, choice filling, documents, seat allotment and NRI quota eligibility. Watching the tutorial before starting the form can help you avoid errors. Keep your login details private and save every receipt, form and allotment document in one folder.
