All India Quota Counselling Dates
The first round of counselling for deemed and central universities under the All India Quota starts on August 4 and runs till August 17. If you get a seat in this round, you need to join by August 22.
Here is how the rest of the rounds line up:
- Round 2: August 24 to September 2
- Round 3: September 10 to September 18
- Stray Vacancy Round: September 28 to October 3
- Last date to join after stray vacancy round: October 10
So even if you don't get a seat in the early rounds, there is still a chance right up to October.
State Quota Counselling Dates
State quota seats follow a slightly different timeline. Round 1 begins on August 13 and ends on August 22, with joining required by August 28.
- Round 2: August 31 to September 8
- Round 3: September 16 to September 26
- Stray Vacancy Round: October 3 to October 5
Keep these dates handy. State quota timelines often get confused with the All India Quota ones, and that mix-up can cost you a seat.
When Do Classes Actually Start?
Here is the part that surprises most students. The academic session for the 2026-27 batch begins on September 8, while counselling for later rounds is still going on. Students applying under the NRI quota in deemed universities can now upload their documents directly on the counselling portal. This saves time and removes one more physical step from an already long process.
Working Weekends Ahead for Institutions
The MCC has told all institutions, state counselling authorities, and agencies involved to stick to this schedule without delay. It has even asked them to treat Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays as regular working days until the process is complete.
