NEET SS Counselling 2025 Round 2 Schedule and Seat Matrix Changes
MCC has revised NEET SS Round 2 dates, added 153 Tamil Nadu seats, withdrawn eight seats, and issued reporting instructions for candidates.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has revised the NEET SS Counselling 2025 Round 2 schedule and seat matrix. The update adds 153 in-service super speciality seats from Tamil Nadu and removes eight seats from five institutes.
These changes can affect your choice list. Candidates should check the revised seat matrix before they submit or edit their preferences. A small change in the matrix can change the options available on the screen, so this is not the time to rely on an old PDF saved in your downloads folder.
NEET SS Round 2 counselling dates
As per the revised MCC calendar, the key dates are:
- Registration: Until 3 PM on August 5, 2026
- Fee payment: Until 6 PM on August 5, 2026
- Choice filling: Until 2 PM on August 6, 2026
- Choice locking: From 8 PM on August 5, 2026
- Seat allotment processing: August 6, 2026
- Round 2 result: August 7, 2026
- Reporting at the allotted institute: August 8 to August 12, 2026
Candidates who receive a seat must report to the allotted college or institute within the given dates. They should also complete the required admission steps and carry the documents asked for by MCC and the institute.
153 Tamil Nadu seats added to the matrix
The main change in Round 2 is the addition of 153 vacant in-service super speciality seats from Tamil Nadu. These seats have been returned to the central counselling process by the Tamil Nadu State Selection Committee.
MCC said the move follows a Supreme Court order dated July 28, 2026, in the case of Tamil Nadu Medical Officers Association & Anr. vs Union of India & Ors. The seats will now be available for allocation through MCC Round 2 counselling.
Eligible candidates can add these seats to their preferences during the choice-filling period. Candidates who have already filled choices should review the updated matrix and modify their list if needed. The new seats may offer more options, but they should be checked with care for course, institute, category, and service conditions.
Eight seats withdrawn from five institutes
MCC has also removed eight Open category seats under the All India Quota. These seats will not be available for allotment in the current round.
The withdrawn seats are:
- Government Medical College, Jammu: Two DNBSS Neurology seats
- Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital, Chennai: Two DNBSS Neonatology seats
- Ivy Health and Life Sciences, Mohali: One DNBSS Cardiology seat
- Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad: Two DNBSS Neurology seats
- Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi: One DNBSS Surgical Oncology seat
The institutes requested the withdrawal of these seats. Candidates should remove any preference that is no longer listed in the revised matrix and avoid assuming that a seat shown in an earlier version is still active.
What candidates should do now
First, log in to the official MCC counselling portal and open the latest Round 2 seat matrix. Search for the course and institute you want. Then check whether the seat is still listed and whether any new Tamil Nadu seats match your eligibility.
Next, review your choice order. Place the courses and institutes you prefer at the top. Do not add a choice only because it appears available. Check the course name, seat category, institute details, and any service rules that apply to in-service seats.
Keep proof of registration, fee payment, choice filling, and choice locking. Screenshots and downloaded records can help if you need to track your application. Also check the spelling of your name, registration details, and other information before locking choices. The lock button is not a suggestion box.
After the result is released on August 7, candidates should download the allotment letter and read the reporting instructions. Those allotted a seat must report between August 8 and August 12. Missing the reporting window may affect admission and future participation under the counselling rules.
Colleges told to work on holidays
MCC has directed participating colleges and institutes to treat Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays as working days during the counselling process. This step aims to keep admissions on schedule.
Candidates should contact their allotted institute before travelling and confirm the reporting desk, document list, fee details, and working hours. Keep the latest MCC notice and allotment documents ready when you report.
