NEET PG Counselling 2026 Seat Matrix and PwD Assessment Schedule

The NEET PG counselling 2026 seat matrix is now available for candidates seeking admission to postgraduate medical courses. The matrix covers MD, MS, DNB and postgraduate diploma seats across eligible medical colleges in India.

The National Medical Commission has released the seat details ahead of the first counselling round. Candidates can check the latest information through the official Medical Counselling Committee website at mcc.nic.in. The seat matrix can help candidates understand the number of seats offered by each college, course and category before they fill in their choices.

NEET PG 2026 seat count rises

The new seat matrix shows growth in postgraduate medical seats over the previous academic year. The total number of MD, MS and postgraduate diploma seats has reached around 58,000. Last year, the number stood at 52,173.

This marks an increase of about 11 per cent. The rise may give candidates more options during choice filling, though the number of seats available to each candidate will depend on rank, category, eligibility and the rules for the selected counselling process.

Private medical colleges and deemed universities have recorded a rise of about 32 per cent in postgraduate seats. Government medical colleges have seen an increase of up to 10 per cent. PwD registration and medical assessment dates

The MCC is set to open the counselling facility for candidates under the Persons with Disabilities, or PwD, category from October 1, 2026. Candidates who wish to claim PwD benefits must complete the required medical assessment within the given dates.

• Primary Medical Assessment Board: October 1 to October 9, 2026, until 5 PM
• Appellate Medical Assessment Board: October 5, 2026, from 10 AM to October 12, 2026, until 5 PM

PwD candidates should visit the designated primary medical assessment centre during the stated period. They should carry the required documents and follow the instructions issued by the authorities. Candidates who need an appellate assessment will get a separate window under the published schedule.

Missing an assessment date can affect a candidate’s participation in the PwD category. It is wise to check the official notice for the centre address, reporting time, documents and other requirements before making travel plans.

NBEMS to share question-wise exam details

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences is also scheduled to provide examination-related information from October 1. The details are expected to include:

• Question identification numbers
• Correct answers
• Responses marked by each candidate
• Marks awarded for each question

This information will allow candidates to review their NEET PG 2026 performance question by question. It may also help them understand their score before they plan their counselling choices. Candidates should download and save their records once they become available.
