NEET PG 2026 Registration Process: Complete Guide to Dates, Fees, and Eligibility

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has opened the registration window for NEET PG 2026. If you are an MBBS graduate looking to pursue postgraduate medical courses, this is your chance to take the next step in your medical career.

The exam will take place on 30th August 2026, and you have until 21st July 2026 to submit your application. Let's break down everything you need to know about this important exam.

Important Dates You Should Mark on Your Calendar

Registration started on 1st July 2026 at 5 PM. You can apply online until 21st July 2026 at 11:55 PM. After you submit your application, there will be a correction window from 25th to 28th July 2026.

The exam city details will be announced on 11th August 2026. Your admit card will be available for download from 27th August 2026. The exam itself is scheduled for 30th August 2026, and results are expected by 30th September 2026.

One critical detail: you must complete your internship by 30th September 2026 to be eligible for admission to NEET PG courses. If your internship ends after this date, you will not qualify for admission, even if you pass the exam.

Who Can Apply for NEET PG 2026

You can apply if you have completed your MBBS from India and hold a registration certificate (provisional or permanent) from the National Medical Commission (NMC), the former Medical Council of India (MCI), or a State Medical Council.

The internship requirement is strict. You must have completed one year of internship or be scheduled to complete it on or before 30th September 2026.

If you studied medicine abroad, the rules are different. Indian students or foreign nationals who completed their primary medical qualification outside India must clear the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination conducted by NBEMS. You also need to complete your internship by 30th September 2026 and obtain approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs before applying.

Application Fees Structure

The application fee varies based on your category. General, OBC, and EWS candidates need to pay ₹3,500. SC, ST, and PwBD candidates pay a reduced fee of ₹2,500.

You can pay online using a credit card, debit card, or other electronic payment methods. Remember that once you submit your application and pay the fee, you cannot get a refund under any circumstances. Make sure all your details are correct before you hit the submit button.

What Courses Does NEET PG Cover

NEET PG is the entrance exam for multiple postgraduate medical courses. These include MD and MS courses, postgraduate diploma courses, Post MBBS DNB courses, six-year DRنب courses, and NBEMS diploma courses.

The exam is your gateway to specialising in various medical fields. Whether you want to become a surgeon, a paediatrician, or pursue any other specialisation, clearing NEET PG is your first step.

How to Apply

Visit the official NBEMS website at nbe.edu.in. Look for the NEET PG 2026 registration link. Fill in all required details carefully. Upload the necessary documents as specified in the information bulletin.

Pay the application fee using the online payment gateway. Save and print your application form for future reference. Keep checking your email and the NBEMS website for updates about your application status.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Many candidates make simple errors that can cause problems later. Double-check your name, date of birth, and other personal details. These should match exactly with your MBBS degree and other official documents.

Upload clear, properly sized photographs and signatures. Blurry or incorrect format documents can lead to rejection. Keep digital copies of all your certificates ready before you start the application process.

Don't wait until the last day to apply. Technical issues, payment gateway problems, or simple oversight can cause you to miss the deadline. Apply at least a few days before 21st July 2026.

What Happens After Registration

Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email. Save this email and note down your application number. You will need this for all future correspondence.

In the correction window (25th to 28th July 2026), check your application form again. If you spot any errors, this is your chance to fix them. After this window closes, you cannot make any changes.

On 11th August 2026, the exam city details will be announced. Check which city you have been assigned. Your admit card will be available from 27th August 2026. Download it immediately and take multiple printouts.

Preparing Your Documents

Keep these documents ready before you start your application: your MBBS degree certificate or provisional certificate, internship completion certificate (or a certificate stating your expected completion date), registration certificate from NMC or State Medical Council, a recent passport-sized photograph, and your signature in the specified format.

If you studied abroad, you will also need your Foreign Medical Graduate Examination scorecard and approval letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Exam Day

NEET PG 2026 will be held on 30th August 2026. The exam will be computer-based. Make sure you know your exam centre location well in advance. Plan your travel and accommodation if needed.

Carry your admit card and a valid photo ID proof. Reach the exam centre at least 30 minutes before the reporting time. Mobile phones and electronic devices are not allowed in the exam hall.

After the Exam

Results will be declared by 30th September 2026. Your scorecard will be available on the NBEMS website. You will need this scorecard for the counselling process.

The counselling for seat allocation will be conducted separately. Keep track of announcements from the relevant counselling authorities. Different states and institutions have their own counselling schedules.

Your NEET PG score is valid for this admission cycle only. Make sure you participate in the counselling process and complete all formalities on time to secure your seat in your desired course and institution.
