The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) opened the NEET PG 2026 registration window on July 2, 2026. Medical graduates planning to pursue MD, MS, or PG Diploma courses now have until July 21 to complete their applications. Here's what you need to know.
Where to Apply for NEET PG 2026
You can access the NEET PG application form on the official NBEMS website at natboard.edu.in. The portal will remain open until July 21, 2026, at 11:55 PM.
NEET PG 2026 Application Fee
The registration fee varies by category. You must pay online using net banking, credit card, debit card, or UPI. No other payment method is accepted.
- General and OBC candidates: Rs 3,500
- SC/ST/PWD/Physically Handicapped candidates: Rs 2,500
The fee is non-refundable. Even if you skip the exam, you won't get your money back.
How to Fill the NEET PG 2026 Application Form
The process is straightforward if you follow these steps:
- Visit the official NBEMS website
- Click on the NEET PG application link
- Complete the registration by providing your name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, and password
- Fill in all required details in the application form
- Upload your photograph, signature, and thumb impression
- Pay the application fee
- Review all details before final submission
The entire process takes about 30 to 40 minutes if you have all documents ready in the correct format.
Documents You Need
Keep these documents handy before you start filling the form:
- Recent passport-size photograph (not older than 3 months)
- Signature in JPG/JPEG format
- Thumb impression
- Aadhaar card for authentication
- Valid email ID and mobile number
Important Guidelines for Photograph Upload
Many students face issues during photo upload. Follow these rules to avoid rejection:
- Use a recent passport-size photo taken within the last 3 months
- No selfies allowed
- Remove spectacles, caps, and stethoscopes
- Keep a neutral facial expression
- Ensure your ears and shoulders are visible
- Use a plain white background
- File size must be less than 80 KB
- Format must be JPG or JPEG
You will also need to capture a real-time photograph using your webcam during the form-filling process. Make sure your webcam photo matches your uploaded photo.
New Rules for Test City Selection
NBEMS introduced new rules this year. The test city will not be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, you must select three preferred test states. Your first preference must be the state where your correspondence address is located. The other two preferences should be neighbouring states.
Applying early does not give you an advantage in getting your preferred test city.
Details You Cannot Change Later
Some fields in the application form are non-editable. You cannot change these details even during the correction window:
- Name
- Aadhaar details
- Email ID
- Mobile number
- Nationality
- Correspondence address
- Test state preference
Check these fields at least twice before hitting the submit button. A small mistake can cause big problems later.
When is the Form Correction Window?
The form correction window opens from July 25 to July 28, 2026. You can make changes to editable fields during this period. A selective edit window will also be available from July 31 to August 10, 2026.
However, you cannot change the non-editable fields mentioned above. So don't rely on the correction window to fix all mistakes.
NEET PG 2026 Key Dates
Mark these dates on your calendar:
- Registration opens: July 1, 2026
- Registration closes: July 21, 2026

- Selective edit window: July 31 to August 10, 2026
- City allotment: August 11, 2026
- Admit card release: August 27, 2026
- Exam date: August 30, 2026
- Result: By September 30, 2026
Who Can Apply?
You can apply for NEET PG 2026 if you have completed your MBBS degree. Final year students who are completing their internship on or before September 30, 2026, are also eligible.
There is no age limit or attempt restriction for NEET PG. You can appear for the exam as many times as you want.
Changes in NEET PG 2026 Exam Pattern
The authority reduced the number of questions from 200 to 180. However, the exam duration remains 3.5 hours. The marking scheme stays the same: you get 4 marks for each correct answer and lose 1 mark for each wrong answer.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Students often make these errors while filling the form:
- Not reading the instructions before starting
- Spelling mistakes in the name field
- Using an old photograph
- Wrong correspondence address
- Filling the form in a hurry without keeping documents ready
- Not verifying non-editable details before submission
- Uploading documents in incorrect format or size
Should You Apply Early?
Yes, applying early helps you avoid last-minute technical issues. But don't rush. Read all instructions, check eligibility criteria, and prepare all documents in the correct format before you start filling the form.
Remember, applying early won't help you get your preferred test city. The allocation doesn't follow the first-come, first-served rule this year.
What If You Make a Mistake?
If you spot an error after submission, wait for the correction window. You can edit some fields during July 25 to 28. But if the mistake is in a non-editable field like your name or Aadhaar number, you might face serious issues during verification.
Your candidature can be cancelled if the information you provide doesn't match during the verification process.
Tips for Smooth Registration
Follow these tips for a hassle-free experience:
- Use a computer instead of a mobile phone
- Keep all documents in the prescribed format before starting
- Ensure stable internet connection
- Complete Aadhaar authentication beforehand
- Use a valid email ID and mobile number that you can access
- Save the form and review all details before final submission
- Take a screenshot of the confirmation page
You will receive a confirmation email and SMS after successful submission.
Is NEET PG Mandatory?
No, taking the NEET PG exam is not compulsory. Only those who want to pursue MD, MS, or PG Diploma courses need to appear for this exam. Qualifying the exam and scoring a high percentile doesn't guarantee admission. You still need to participate in counselling based on your rank.
The registration window closes on July 21, 2026. Don't wait until the last day. Start your application early, double-check all details, and submit your form well before the deadline.
