Here is everything you need to know before you log in and start filling your choices.
What Happens First
The final merit list along with the category-wise seat matrix will be out on July 27, 2026. This list decides where you stand among other applicants, so keep an eye on it.
Right after that, the real action begins. Choice filling for CAP Round 1 opens on July 28 and stays open till July 30, 2026. During these three days, you need to log in to the official admission portal and pick your preferred colleges and courses. Think of it like a wishlist, except this one actually decides your next two years.
Seat Allotment Day
Mark August 2, 2026 in bold. That is the day the provisional seat allotment result comes out. This is the moment you find out which college and course you have landed.
Got your first choice? Good for you. You can lock it in right away using the Freeze option and pay the seat acceptance fee online.
Not fully happy with what you got? You are not stuck. Choose the Not Freeze or Betterment option instead. This keeps you in the running for the next round while still holding on to your current seat as a backup.
Reporting To Your College
Once you accept your seat, the next step is showing up. You will need to report to your allotted institute with your documents and admission fee. This has to happen within the given window, so do not leave it for the last minute.
Miss this step, and your seat could be cancelled. That would be a rough way to lose a spot you worked hard for.

Keep your login details handy and check the portal a day before choice filling opens. Portals tend to slow down when thousands of students log in at once, so do not wait till the last hour on July 30.
List your preferences in the order you actually want them, not just the ones that sound impressive. Your top choice should be the one you would be happy studying at for the next two years, not the one that looks good on paper.
