If you submitted your JEE Main 2026 application and later spotted an error, you now have a chance to fix it. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened a correction window for Session 1 applications, and time is running out.
The window opened on December 1 and will close on December 2 at 11:50 pm. That gives you just two days to review your form and make necessary changes. After the deadline passes, no corrections will be accepted, no matter how small the error.
What Details Can You Change?
The good news is that NTA allows you to edit several important fields in your application. This flexibility helps ensure your form reflects accurate information before the exam.
You can update your personal details, including your name and your parents' names. Academic information like your Class 10th and 12th qualifications can also be corrected if you entered them wrong the first time.
Basic information such as your date of birth and gender can be changed. Category details matter for reservations, so NTA lets you update your category, sub-category, or PwD (Person with Disability) status if needed.
Did you upload a blurry signature or the wrong file? You can fix that too. The correction window also allows you to change your exam preferences. This includes switching between Paper 1 and Paper 2, or changing the medium of examination from Hindi to English or vice versa.
One of the most useful features is the ability to change your exam city. If you initially selected a city far from your current location, you can now choose a centre closer to your address. This can save you travel time and stress on exam day.
What You Cannot Change
While NTA provides flexibility for many fields, some details are locked for security reasons. These cannot be edited once you submit your application.
Your mobile number stays fixed. The same goes for your email ID. Both these contact points are tied to your account and cannot be changed through the correction window.
Your home address, whether permanent or present, is also locked. If you entered the wrong address during registration, you cannot update it now. The same rule applies to your emergency contact details.
Perhaps most important is your photograph. Once uploaded, it cannot be changed. This makes sense from a security standpoint, as your photo will be used for identification during the exam.
Why This Window Matters
Small errors in your application can create big problems later. A wrong exam centre could mean extra travel. An incorrect name might not match your ID proof. A mistake in your category could affect your eligibility for reservations.
The correction window exists to help you avoid these issues. Think of it as your safety net. But like any safety net, it only works if you use it in time.
Important Dates to Remember
The original application window ran from October 31 to November 27, 2025. Fee payment was accepted until 11:50 pm on November 27.
The correction window is much shorter. You have only until December 2 at 11:50 pm to make changes.
Looking ahead, NTA will release the city intimation slip in the first week of January 2026. This slip will confirm your exact exam centre. Admit cards will be available three to four days before the exam starts.
The actual exams will take place between January 21 and January 30, 2026. Multiple test centres across India will conduct the examination.
How to Make Corrections
Log in to the official NTA JEE Main 2026 website using your credentials. Look for the correction window link on the homepage. Click on it to access your submitted application form.
Review each section carefully. Make the necessary changes in the fields that NTA allows you to edit. Double-check everything before you submit. Once you save the corrections, you may not get another chance to change them.
If you face any technical issues or have questions about the process, visit the official NTA JEE Main website. The contact details for queries are available there.
This correction window is your last opportunity to fix errors in your JEE Main 2026 Session 1 application. The deadline is firm. No extensions will be granted, and no corrections will be accepted after December 2 at 11:50 pm. Take a few minutes today to review your form and make any needed changes. Your future self will thank you when exam day arrives and everything goes smooth.
