Once JoSAA allots you a seat, you get three choices: Freeze, Float, or Slide.

- Slide means you stay within the same institute but keep the door open for a better branch there.
Think about it like ordering food. Freeze is when you are happy with your meal and done. Float is when you keep the plate but still check the menu for something better. Slide is when you stick to the same restaurant but ask for a better dish.
A Few Quick Answers
Can I change my choices after Round 1? No. You lock your choice list before Round 1 begins, and that stays final for every round after.
Does JoSAA cover IIIT Delhi? No, IIIT Delhi admissions go through JAC Delhi counselling, not JoSAA.
