Maharashtra has emerged as a leader in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India, securing half of the country's total FDI in the first quarter of the 2024-25 financial year. According to the Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the state attracted ₹70,795 crore, representing 52.46% of the country's total FDI during this period.

  • Karnataka: ₹19,059 crore
  • Delhi: ₹10,788 crore
  • Telangana: ₹9,023 crore
  • Gujarat: ₹8,508 crore

The total FDI inflow into India during this period was ₹1,34,959 crore, with Maharashtra claiming the largest share.

Investment Growth

Maharashtra has seen a substantial rise in FDI compared to previous years:

  • 2022-23: ₹118,422 crore
  • 2023-24: ₹125,101 crore

From October 2019 to June 2024, Maharashtra attracted a total FDI of ₹603,224 crore (approximately $77,573 million), with significant investments in services, computer software and hardware, and trading sectors.

Economic Success and Future Outlook

Fadnavis highlighted that the state secured ₹314,318 crore in investments within two years and three months of the current administration's tenure. The results for the second quarter of 2024-25 are yet to be announced, indicating a potential for further growth.

PM Modi to not address UNGA session, EAM Jaishankar to deliver speech on September 28


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be addressing the annual debate at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session this month. Initially, Modi was scheduled to speak on September 26, but a revised list of speakers issued by the UN now indicates that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will address the General Debate on September 28.

Modi’s US Visit Highlights

  • UN Summit of the Future: PM Modi will attend the Summit of the Future on September 22-23 at the UN headquarters in New York, a high-level event aimed at forging a global consensus on safeguarding the future.
  • Community Event: On September 22, Modi will speak at a major community event at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, with over 24,000 attendees expected, primarily from the Indian diaspora. Registrations have come from 590 community organizations across the US, with a strong turnout expected from the tri-state area.
