CUET PG 2026 Registration Deadline Extended: What You Need to Know

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has given students another chance to apply for CUET PG 2026. If you missed the original deadline, you can breathe easy now. The registration window stays open until January 20, 2026.

This extension comes as good news for thousands of students who were rushing to complete their applications. The NTA has also updated other important dates in the schedule.

New Application Schedule

The revised timeline gives you clear deadlines to work with. You can submit your online application and pay the fee until January 20, 2026. This is your final chance to get your application in.

After submission, you might need to fix some details in your form. The NTA understands this. They have set aside three days between January 23 and 25 for corrections. Make sure you use this window if needed.

How to Apply

The application process is simple. Start by visiting the official CUET PG portal. You need to create a new registration first. The system will give you a login ID and password once you register.

Use these credentials to access the application form. Fill in all sections with care. You will need to upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature. Keep these files ready before you start.

Some students might need to upload category certificates. Check if this applies to you and keep the documents ready in the required format.

Who Can Apply

The eligibility rules are simple. You need a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university. Already graduated? You can apply. Still in your final year? You can apply too.

The exam opens doors to postgraduate programmes across India. Make sure your undergraduate degree meets the basic requirements before you apply.

Exam Details You Should Know

CUET PG 2026 will happen in March 2026. The exact dates will be announced soon. The exam covers 157 different subjects, so you have plenty of options to choose from based on your postgraduate plans.

The exam runs in three shifts on exam days. You get 90 minutes to complete your paper. The test happens on computers, so get comfortable with the CBT format if you are not already.

Here is something interesting. The exam is not just for students in India. NTA will conduct it in 292 Indian cities and 16 international locations. This shows how widely accepted CUET PG has become.

Application Fee Breakdown

The fee structure varies based on your category and the number of papers you choose. For two papers, General category students pay Rs 1,400. Each additional paper costs Rs 700 more.

OBC-NCL and EWS category students get a small discount. They pay Rs 1,200 for two papers and Rs 600 for each extra paper.

SC, ST, and Third Gender candidates pay Rs 1,100 for two papers. Additional papers cost Rs 600 each for these categories.

Students with disabilities (PwBD category) have the lowest fee structure among Indian applicants. They pay Rs 1,000 for two papers and Rs 600 for each additional one.

International candidates face higher fees. They need to pay Rs 7,000 for two papers. Each extra paper adds Rs 3,500 to the total.

Tips for a Smooth Application

Start your application early. Do not wait until January 20. Technical issues can pop up, and you do not want to miss out because of a last-minute server problem.

Keep all your documents scanned and ready. This includes your photograph, signature, and any certificates you need to upload. Check the file size limits mentioned on the portal.

Double-check every detail before you submit. Yes, you get a correction window later, but why create extra work for yourself? Get it right the first time.

Save your payment receipt. Keep a copy of your completed application form too. You will need these for future reference.

What Happens After You Apply

Once you submit your application and pay the fee, you are in the system. The NTA will release admit cards closer to the exam date. These will be available for download on the official website.

Your admit card will tell you your exam centre location and shift timing. Plan your exam day logistics based on this information.

The exam results typically come out a few weeks after the test. The NTA will publish them on the official portal. You can check your score using your login credentials.

Why This Extension Matters

Many students juggle multiple entrance exams during this season. Some miss deadlines because of scheduling conflicts or document issues. This extension gives everyone a fair shot at applying.

It also shows the NTA listens to student concerns. Extensions like these reduce stress and ensure no deserving candidate misses out on opportunities due to administrative hurdles.

If you have been thinking about postgraduate studies but have not applied yet, now is the time. The door is open, but it will not stay open forever. Mark January 20 on your calendar and get your application done.
