The CBSE CTET 2026 city intimation slip is expected soon on the official website, ctet.nic.in. The slip will tell candidates the city where their exam centre will be located. CBSE has not yet shared the exact release date.
The CTET September 2026 exam is scheduled for September 6, 2026. CBSE may also use September 5 as a reserve date if the number of candidates is high. Keep your application number and password ready. Hunting for login details five minutes before a deadline is not a study plan.
CTET 2026 city slip and admit card
The city intimation slip and the admit card serve different purposes. The city slip shows the allotted exam city, exam date, shift and reporting time. It may not show the exact centre address.
The admit card will include the centre name and address, candidate details, photograph, signature, exam timings and exam instructions. Candidates must carry the admit card to the exam centre. The admit card is expected close to the exam date, as per the schedule given in the information bulletin.
How to download the CTET city slip
- Visit the official website, ctet.nic.in.
- Open the CTET September 2026 candidate portal.
- Click the link for the city intimation slip.
- Enter your application number and password or date of birth.
- Submit the details.
- Check the city, date and shift shown on the slip.
- Download the slip and save a printed copy.
CBSE allots exam cities based on its process, and candidates may not be able to change the allotted city. Check travel routes as soon as the slip is available. This helps avoid a rushed bus ride, a missed train or an unexpected morning adventure.

The exam will be held in offline pen-and-paper mode. Candidates should reach the centre well before the reporting time. Entry may not be allowed after the gate closing time shown on the admit card.
CTET 2026 exam pattern
Each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks. Each correct answer carries one mark. There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
Paper 1 subjects
- Child Development and Pedagogy: 30 questions
- Mathematics: 30 questions
- Environmental Studies: 30 questions
- Language I: 30 questions
- Language II: 30 questions
Paper 2 subjects
- Child Development and Pedagogy: 30 questions
- Language I: 30 questions
- Language II: 30 questions
- Mathematics and Science, or Social Studies/Social Science: 60 questions
Both papers have a duration of two hours and 30 minutes. Paper 1 is for candidates who want to teach Classes 1 to 5. Paper 2 is for those who want to teach Classes 6 to 8. Candidates who meet the required conditions may appear for both papers.
Important syllabus areas
Paper 1 Mathematics covers numbers, geometry, shapes, measurement, time, money, data handling and patterns. Its pedagogy section includes child reasoning, error analysis, remedial teaching and methods of learning mathematics.
Environmental Studies covers family and friends, food, shelter, water, travel and things people make and do. The pedagogy section focuses on activities, discussion, experiments, teaching aids, assessment and links between EVS, science and social science.
Paper 2 includes child development, languages and the subject chosen by the candidate. Social Science topics include geography, history, civics and teaching methods. Mathematics and Science candidates should study subject content along with pedagogy.
CTET passing marks and certificate validity
As stated in the exam details, the qualifying mark for the general category is 90 out of 150, or 60 per cent. Candidates from reserved categories may qualify with 82 marks, or 55 per cent, as per the applicable rules.
The CTET eligibility certificate is valid for life under current rules. However, passing CTET does not give direct appointment. Candidates must apply for teaching posts and meet the recruitment rules of the school or authority.
Exam day instructions
- Carry the printed admit card and a valid photo ID.
- Use a black or blue ballpoint pen for the OMR sheet.
- Fill the roll number, booklet code and other details with care.
- Do not carry mobile phones, calculators, watches, notes, bags or electronic devices.
- Check the admit card for the final list of allowed and banned items.
- Review your name, photograph, signature and centre details after downloading the admit card.
