AC Team

If you have been refreshing consortiumofnlus.ac.in every hour hoping for an update, you are not alone. The CLAT 2027 notification is one of the most awaited announcements for law aspirants across India, and the wait is almost over. Here is everything you need to know before the official brochure drops.
What is CLAT and Why Does the Notification Matter?
CLAT, or the Common Law Admission Test, is the entrance exam for undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes at National Law Universities. The official notification is the single most important document in this process. It lays out the registration dates, exam date, eligibility rules, fee structure, syllabus, and even the reservation policy. Skip reading it, and you might miss a deadline that decides your entire year.
When Will CLAT 2027 Notification Release?
The Consortium of NLUs is expected to release the CLAT 2027 notification soon. Based on how previous years went, the registration process should open sometime in the first week of August. The tentative exam date is December 6, 2026, and it will be conducted offline in pen and paper mode.
Keep in mind these dates are still tentative. The Consortium has not confirmed anything officially yet, so treat these as educated guesses rather than facts carved in stone.
How to Download the CLAT 2027 Notification PDF
Once released, downloading the notification is simple:
- Visit consortiumofnlus.ac.in
- Click on the CLAT 2027 tab on the homepage
- Find the notification PDF link on the screen
- Click to open the information brochure
- Save it somewhere you will actually remember
That last point matters more than it sounds. Many students download the PDF, forget where they saved it, and end up downloading it three more times. Create a folder called CLAT and save every document there from day one.
CLAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria
For the UG programme, general category students need 45 percent marks in Class 12 from a recognised board. SC, ST, and PwD candidates need 40 percent. There is no upper age limit, so whether you are seventeen or forty seven, you are welcome to apply.
For the PG programme, general category candidates need an LLB degree with 50 percent aggregate marks. SC, ST, and PwD candidates need 45 percent.
CLAT 2027 Exam Pattern
The exam usually follows the same structure year after year. Expect multiple choice questions worth 1 mark each, adding up to a total of 120 marks. The paper runs for two hours and is set entirely in English. There is also negative marking, with 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer, so guessing blindly is not the smartest strategy here.
CLAT 2027 Syllabus
The syllabus covers five sections:
- English Language: vocabulary, grammar correction, synonyms and antonyms, tenses
- Current Affairs and GK: arts, culture, international affairs, historical events
- Quantitative Techniques: number theory, averages, ratios, mixtures
- Logical Reasoning: analogies, relationships, syllogisms, cause and effect
- Legal Reasoning: legal maxims, landmark Supreme Court judgments, legal GK, the Constitution
CLAT 2027 Application Fee
The application fee is expected to stay around INR 4,000 for General, OBC, PWD, NRI, PIO, and OCI candidates, and INR 3,500 for SC, ST, and BPL candidates. Payment can only be made online through debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. No offline payments are accepted, so keep your cards charged and your internet stable on the day you apply.
Best Books for CLAT 2027 Preparation
If you are starting your preparation now, these books are worth picking up:
- Word Power Made Easy for English
- Legal Awareness and Legal Reasoning by A.P. Bhardwaj
- A Modern Approach to Logical Reasoning by R.S. Aggarwal
- Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Examinations by R.S. Aggarwal
Pair these with previous year question papers and mock tests, and you will build a solid base before the official syllabus arrives.
Can CLAT Get You into NLU Delhi?
Here is a detail many students miss. CLAT scores are accepted by every NLU except NLU Delhi. If Delhi is on your wish list, you will need to sit for AILET separately. So do not put all your eggs in the CLAT basket if that particular campus is your dream.
Stay tuned to the official website for the latest updates, and remember, preparation does not have to wait for a notification. The syllabus barely changes each year, so you can start today and thank yourself later.
