CBSE Exam 2027: School Checklist for Registration and LOC Submission

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked its affiliated schools to start preparing for two important processes linked to the 2027 board examinations. Schools must get ready to register students in Classes 9 and 11 and submit the List of Candidates, or LOC, for students who will appear for the Class 10 and 12 board exams.

CBSE issued the notice on 12 September 2026. The Board said that the registration and LOC submission windows will begin shortly. It has asked schools to keep student details, subject information and supporting records ready before the process starts.

Which students are covered?

The notice covers four groups of students:

• Students in Class 9 who need to be registered for the secondary school examination cycle
• Students in Class 11 who need to be registered for the senior secondary school examination cycle
• Students in Class 10 who will appear for the 2027 board examination
• Students in Class 12 who will appear for the 2027 board examination

Registration applies to Classes 9 and 11. The LOC applies to students appearing for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations. Schools need to understand this difference before they begin entering data.

Details schools must check

CBSE has told schools to check every entry against official school records. The candidate’s full name should match the name in the admission register. Schools must also verify the date of birth, gender and category, where applicable.

The names of parents or guardians must be checked with the same care. A small spelling error can lead to trouble later when the school requests a correction or when the student receives official documents. The Board has asked schools to confirm the spelling of each name before submitting the data.

Schools must also upload the candidate’s photograph and signature in the format set by CBSE. They should check the image quality, size and file type before submission. A blurry photo can turn a simple form into a small office mystery.

Subject details need special attention

Subject information remains one of the main areas where errors occur. The subjects entered for each student must match the student’s approved selection and the prescribed scheme of studies.

Schools should check the subject name, subject code and combination of subjects for every candidate. They should also compare the online entry with the student’s school record and the subjects approved by the school.

In earlier examination cycles, some schools entered the wrong subject code or submitted a subject that did not match the student’s choice. They later contacted CBSE to request changes. Such requests can create delays and may not always be easy to resolve after final submission.

Why early checking matters

The registration and LOC data becomes part of the examination record. Errors in names, dates of birth, subjects or other details can affect later stages of the exam process. They may also lead to correction requests, extra work for school staff and stress for students and parents.

Before the CBSE portal opens, schools can prepare a simple checklist:

4. Confirm the subjects and subject codes for each student.
5. Check that the subjects match the scheme of studies.
6. Prepare photographs and signatures in the required format.

What students and parents should do

Students and parents should contact the school if any personal detail appears incorrect. They should check the spelling of names, the date of birth and the selected subjects. Class 10 and 12 students should pay close attention to the subjects listed for the board examination.

Schools should follow the dates, instructions and submission rules in the official CBSE notice when the registration and LOC windows open. The Board has not asked schools to wait until the last day. Keeping the information ready now can help prevent avoidable errors later.
