These dates come from the official NSP scheme listing. Check the portal again before submission because the authority can revise a deadline.
Who can apply for the Pragati Scholarship?
Check every point before starting the form:
Applicant: Only female students can apply.
Family limit: Up to two girl children from one family can receive the scholarship.
Income limit: The FAQ currently linked from the NSP 2026-27 scheme listing says family income must be below ₹8 lakh, while the older 2020-21 degree guideline says not more than ₹8 lakh. Because the current listing does not resolve the boundary, an applicant whose certified income is exactly ₹8 lakh should obtain written clarification from AICTE or NSP before relying on eligibility.
Course: The student must be in an AICTE-approved technical degree or diploma programme.
Year of admission: Fresh applicants must be admitted in the first year, or in the second year through lateral entry.
Other scholarship or stipend: The FAQ linked by NSP expressly bars another Central Government, State Government or AICTE-sponsored scholarship. An older scheme guideline uses broader wording covering financial assistance, scholarships, emoluments or stipends from any other source. Until AICTE or NSP confirms which condition controls for 2026-27, disclose and obtain written clarification about any private scholarship, award or stipend rather than assuming it is permitted.
Course level: Postgraduate, non-technical and dual-degree courses are not covered under the eligibility described in the official FAQ.
Do not assume that an institute is eligible only because it offers an engineering or diploma course. Verify the institute and course approval for the current academic year.
Illustrative self-check: A first-year female student admitted to an AICTE-approved technical degree, with certified family income below the applicable limit, no disqualifying government or AICTE scholarship, and a student-owned Aadhaar-seeded bank account may fit the stated route. This example is not an approval; confirm the live NSP form and institute verification before applying.
How much financial support is available?
Amount: ₹50,000 per year.
Degree students: Up to four years for a first-year entrant, or up to three years for a lateral-entry student.
Diploma students: Up to three years for a first-year entrant, or up to two years for a lateral-entry student.
Payment method: Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the student's Aadhaar-seeded general savings bank account.
Permitted support: The lump sum can support college fees, a computer, stationery, books, equipment and software.
Not added separately: The official FAQ says no extra grant is paid for hostel or medical charges.
The bank account should be in the student's own name. The official FAQ says a minor, joint or FRILL account is not accepted for disbursement.
How to apply on NSP: point-wise process
Confirm eligibility: Verify course level, admission year, family income and AICTE approval before creating the application.
Prepare Aadhaar and bank details: Check that the student's name and other details match across Aadhaar, the bank account and academic records.
Create NSP One Time Registration: Visit the National Scholarship Portal. OTR is a 14-digit number used for the student's academic career and is required for an NSP application.
Complete Aadhaar authentication: Follow the OTR and face-authentication instructions. If biometric authentication fails, check whether Aadhaar biometrics are locked and follow the official app instructions.
Sign in to the student dashboard: Use the OTR and registered credentials.
Select the correct scheme: Choose either AICTE Pragati Technical Degree or AICTE Pragati Technical Diploma. Do not select a similar scheme only because its name appears nearby.
Fill the form carefully: Enter personal, domicile, family-income, admission, institute, course and bank information exactly as supported by documents.
Upload clear documents: Use readable files with the required signatures and official stamps.
Review before final submission: Recheck the scheme, course year, bank details and every uploaded certificate.
Submit by 31 October 2026: Save the application ID, confirmation and a copy of the submitted form as proof.
Contact the institute nodal officer: Ask the institute to verify and forward the application by the NSP deadline.
Track the dashboard: Respond immediately if the application is marked defective or a correction is requested.
Documents to keep ready
Aadhaar card.
Aadhaar-seeded general savings bank account details in the student's name.
Class 10 certificate and marksheet.
Class 12 certificate and marksheet for degree-level applicants.
ITI certificate and marksheet for lateral entry into a diploma, where applicable.
Diploma certificate and marksheet for lateral entry into a degree, where applicable.
Current annual family income certificate issued by the competent authority.
Study or bonafide certificate signed and stamped by the institute head.
Category certificate, if applicable.
Parent declaration in the prescribed format.
Promotion certificate for a renewal application.
Use the current NSP form and the official Pragati FAQ for document requirements and verification instructions.
Common reasons an application can be rejected
The course is non-technical or is not approved by AICTE for the current year.
The institute is not approved by AICTE for the current year.
The applicant is in a postgraduate or dual-degree course.
The student is already receiving another government or AICTE-sponsored scholarship, or has not clarified a private scholarship, award or stipend against the current scheme conditions.
The form contains incomplete or incorrect information.
The income certificate is outdated, unsigned, unstamped or issued by an unauthorised person.
The bonafide or promotion certificate does not carry the required college stamp and signature.
Marksheet files are blurred, inaccessible or uploaded in the wrong document field.
What to do after submitting the form
Save the application ID and submitted PDF.
Check the NSP dashboard regularly.
Confirm that your institute has verified and forwarded the application.
If NSP marks the form defective, correct it before 15 November 2026.
Keep the Aadhaar-seeded bank account active for DBT.
